Oscar® winner and twice Academy Award®-nominated filmmaker, Gerardine Wurzburg's compelling feature documentary,
"Wretches & Jabberers," chronicles the world travels of disability rights advocates, Tracy Thresher and Larry Bissonnette, in a bold quest to change attitudes about the intelligence and abilities of people with autism.
With the intent to spread autism awareness and change the social script we knew it was important to galvanize non-profits and other autism advocacy groups. We set off on our adventure of distributing and marketing by partnering with AMC Theatres to release the film in their theaters across the country. We continued our momentum by launching a one night 100 Theaters, 100 Cities event in association with Autism Society. Building awareness about adults with autism to communities across the country was made possible by partnering with over 100 local autism groups and setting up an educational screening program for universities and non-profit organizations. Our targeted efforts resulted in an additional 500 special event screenings.
