Last weekend our team headed down the road to Palm Springs, home to our client, Desert AIDS Project (DAP).
The occasion was the Steve Chase Humanitarian Awards Gala. Now in its 24th year, it was first organized by the late Steve Chase, a famed interior designer who was also a DAP donor, volunteer and board member. And today, the Chase Gala is a highlight of the Palm Springs social calendar.
Although the Gala is one of the most style-conscious and celebrity-studded events of its kind, it has at its heart a very serious objective: raising money to help care for low-income people and those living with HIV/AIDS. And year after year, it succeeds in doing just that. A remarkable $5 million in donations was presented to DAP on Saturday, and the organization announced the launch of a further $20 million capital campaign.
Senator Barbara Boxer was in attendance on Saturday and spoke passionately about "100 Women," a program founded at DAP over 10 years ago specifically to support women and children living with or affected by HIV/AIDS, and to address the unmet needs of their families.
The Chase Gala is a truly special event for a noble cause. And Hydro was proud to be a supporting sponsor.
Our Hydronauts enjoyed a 3-course meal, speeches and dancing into the early hours to the soulful tones of the original funky divas En Vogue.
